Well here it is October 22 the leaves are falling pretty good and there are tons of acorns like I have never seen. from where I sit we had a very good rut.I know what you have been "brainwashed into thinking but that is what the MDC does.
Yes the peak of the rut is over but some of the best hunting is coming.Its called the frustration period which the MDC will never tell you..By now 80 percent of the does have been bred and it was the does that did most of the looking.Now there is only 20 percent that will come to estrus so the bucks will go looking far and wide and the leaves will be gone..They get stupid especially if they get a scent of a doe and thats when all your big fights start.I have been asked many times when doe;s the rut start and the most simple way is -when the bucks rub the velvet off it is time for the rut and you can bet on the 2 weeks in October when the moon is full is just about peak.
It varies very little from Canada to almost the Mexican border..If you are really into it you can start by observing when the fawns are born where you are and count back 7 months which is the gestation period...
