slaughter in Ozark county

Here is an update on the deer slaughter I wrote about a few weeks ago.As is usually  the case NO agents of the MDC ever showed up to contact any of the adjoining property owners next to that Piece of Mark twain forest. After some more investigation which I joined into the total of deer that were shot and left to rot came to 22 does and fawns. Most of the fawns were bucks..I am told and I seen some myself last year there was 8 killed and left to rot.I personally had 3 button bucks shot and left to rot on my place.Who knows how many bucks were killed and taken out by these do not give a shit assholes. It is still beyond my comprehension that some one could do that.Pictures of this mess were given to the Gainesville newspaper but they did not print them. The agents in that area should be fired on the spot .If you are like me you are wondering why drag them back to your camp- does not make sense- and then I heard the answer. They had a daily pool for the first guy to bring one in got the pot.

Here they go again blaming the  person who was shot and KILLED for being at fault.
At the tail end of firearms season in southeast Missouri a man was hunting with several other men when one was shot by the other.Sheriff said it was an accident and nothing was suspicious. The man shot did not have orange on and had a white beard the sheriff said.
  NOTHING SUSPICIOUS are you kidding.
Let me be real clear on this.I do not give a shit what that man was wearing unless he was dressed in a deer suit. There is absolutely no way you can mistake a man for anything like a deer or turkey for that matter.I and my friends have hundreds of years of hunting between us and not one of us has ever seen a man in the woods that we would put crosshairs on.   YOU DO NOT SHOOT UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU ARE SHOOTING AT PLAIN AND SIMPLE.  THE MAN WHO SHOT NEEDS TO BE LOCKED UP     IT WAS MURDER.
I still hunt in a state where Orange is not required and they do not have as many so called accidents as Orange states.Hunter orange was made for one thing only and it was not safety. It was made to identify you as a deer hunter. Many states tried to get laws that you had to hang a small sign on your back but was always voted down for discrimination reasons.
But many states like Missouri that have shoot anything that moves seasons have MORE accidents.
It is because you have given people the mindset that everyone in the woods is wearing orange so do not bother looking for horns -its any sex--just shoot then go see if you hit something.

We need to get rid of the MDC NOW

They are still at it and you will never see them change. The Missouri dept of communists MDC.
Just as bad as the dumb republicans and their religion.Never try to make it better you might like it.

This season for some reason where I live in south central missouri it was a slaughter. The shooting started opening day and kept up all week.I let no one hunt my place anymore simply because people do not follow my rules. My rules are much more strict and SANE than the MDC and their rules do not apply here.So if you want to hunt under MDC rules go on their property..
A bow hunter stopped after season and asked if I remember him that I let him hunt a number of years ago.I told him no and the reason why.The same bunch of assholes that come every year and camp at the Mark Twain shot 3 animals all bumpy headed bucks a great loss-and threw them along my fence to rot.Not one scrap of meat taken.Called sheriff and to this day have seen no one. They did it last year too...
Then the bow hunter said you are not going to like what I have to tell you but it was the reason I came here to ask you to hunt. That piece of  Mark twain up the road a little ways-well I am staying out of there. I found 9 more deer in a pile and nothing taken .All does and 2 button bucks.I called the sheriff on my cell hours ago but no one has called so far.
I went up the next day and looked around and found even more.I am sure many of them came to my place since it is less than a mile away. Many that I used to see just before dark are missing.
I did some math on how many deer COULD HAVE been produced by those does in an average life span and it is mind boggling--hundreds yes hundreds and then I think--- holy smoke -what if that is going on all over the state..

Well to say the least it was one hell of a hot summer and summer started in March this year. What a difference today.4 PM in the afternoon and it is only 60,but not a drop of rain like they said we would have.As for the deer I just can not imagine what they have felt like.By the end of May after all the fawns were dropped the ticks were so bad it could make someone cry looking at them. For quite awhile I had doubts that some would survive, but they did. Some of those poor fawns had ticks so thick around their eyes that it swelled them completely shut and they were walking around bumping into each other. It brought tears to my eyes. You just wanted to run out and gather them up and try and clean those nasty ticks off.The does had huge wads of ticks behind their ears that had blown up to the size of grapes full of blood. Most of these deer are less than 40 feet when I film them and the zoom will go up to 200 so I can get some real good looks at those poor things. They were always shaking their heads trying to dislodge those ticks. Then the weather got worse.Day after day of 100 plus heat and things started drying up.By August much of the small under brush they browze on was gone along with alot of the water holes, but to my amazement my main springs are still trickling. Then by the middle of August I noticed something strange but good. The ticks were disapearing quickly.I have not seen a tick on any deer since the third week in August. They are as clean as they are in the dead of winter. Is it possible they got cooked ??.I also noticed I stayed tick free also.I am always out in the woods doing something.
So many of my big trees look dead but I think they just might have been trying to save themselves so I have marked a few to see what happens.I was happy to see a few of the trees are dropping acorns but I believe they will be in short supply.Tomorrow bow season opens and it might be interesting to see the reports.Bye for now..

Well here it is September 1 2012 that magical day where the critters- especially deer do a complete turnaround in their habits that you and I have been so faithfully watching all year.I do not have any idea what happens or if they have a watch to tell time, but every Sept 1st The bucks will start rubbing their antlers and turn into nightime  animals along with most of the does. The fawns that were born at the normal time of late April and early May have lost their spots and are hard to tell from their momma,s unless they are standing along side each other.
This is just a round about way to say THE RUT IS ON..Over many decades I have been asked that same question. When does the rut start.Simple and best answer is when the bucks rub their antlers the rut starts. It peaks in October with the full moon.Up until this time the does will do most of the looking. When I worked for several Game departments we were always told never to tell the 'civilians"the real truth. There are several reasons the November hunt is so good. Its called the frustration period. Most of the does have been bred so now the bucks have to move alot more looking for those few does in "heat"and then throw in that the leaves are gone and its getting cold. Then I have been asked when do the does come into heat. All year long just like a milk cow.I have sen elk and deer have their little ones in the snow of November. When a buck sheds his antlers he will not even look at a doe,so that is the reason you do not see more out of season births.
This year I have no predictions on hunting because of the drought. The majority of the small under brush have already dropped their leaves and many of the oaks did the same before the acorns were formed so my guess is look for the trees with nuts..Good luck.

DRY DRY DRY

Looking around the place I do not see many acorns and in many places it looks like October. The leaves are gone off alot of the underbrush.I have been watering around the house area and I guess thats why I can look out any time of the day and see deer.I have at least 9 does hanging around and 7 have twins and they are all weaned now and loseing their spots. One doe has become a real character. When she sees the sprinker running she will come and stand in front of it .Real good crop of bucks but only one to write home about.Very fortunet that my springs are still dribling water so that keeps them coming back.As for the cattleman well from what I have seen over the years I have very little sympathy for them. They destroyed the land with bulldozers instead of using some common sense. For example one up the road had a 100 acres of timber that had 2 little valleys with small springs.Instead of developing the springs he went with a dozer and flattened everything.Did not even take the timber or sell it for firewood.Shoved it all in the valleys and burned it.Then went up on the hill to a flat spot and dug a pond.(duh) and now hes boo hooing it went dry..

DON'T CARE IF YOUR ON FOOT OR IN A CHOPPER MDC YOU'RE TRESPASSING

Look to the sky.Now the MDC is going to shoot hogs because WE have such a terrible problem with wild hogs.Say What? The article I read said it was here in my neck of the woods..I have talked to my neighbors around my ranch who probably total up 10,000 acres and not one has ever seen a hog,but the MDC says they want private property owners to call them and they will come with a helicopter and shoot them.First of all these know it all MDC BOZO,s can,t find them on the ground so now they need helicopters.Sounds suspicious to me.
Could it be that the MDC want to look and take pictures of everything. Then they can use the excuse to come unannounced on private property because they may have spotted something illegal.I have heard that before Hmmmm-oh yeah its called the Gestapo..
Can you imagine poor Joe Blow hiding in his blind when all of a sudden bam, bam, and a helicopter- wap-wap-wap -overhead..then Joe has a vietnam flashback and blasts the chopper..
Then they come and put poor Joe in jail..Sound dumb-not to me.This Vet does not need no dam MDC chopper over my land.Go fly it over some do nothing Congressman or Senator and see what happens.Better yet the Whitehouse....
