Well the good part of my season was when I kept checking where they slaughtered all those deer the last 2 years I did not find one dead deer only the skinned hide of a fawn hanging on a fence.There were plenty hunters camped out but they left the area the cleanest I heve ever seen it.I also did not have to chase one person off my property,but then I could not hunt my 20 acres next to my neighbor because according to the MDC it is illegal to hunt an AREA that has been baited.Well the neighbor does not bait- he does not hunt -he just likes to feed the critters,but since my property is an AREA according to the MDC its illegal to hunt.The neighbor on the otherside of him who has 300 acres in his AREA hunted anyway.I tried to show him the law but he said "get away you crazy old bastard".
Can you imagine that.I have this crazy idea I wish the Fabulous MDC- know it all-would do.PUT SOME FEET TO THE SIZE OF AN AREA YOU MORONS.
As to my hunting it was rough and I had a few doctor bills,but you have to obey the MDC law.
Do you know how hard it is for an old guy like me to lasso a spike buck and hold it down so I can measure to see if it had 3 inch spikes.The second one I did it got me a trip to the doctor and 20 stiches.Thats it for me.Now I am only going to shoot forked horns..
Now I have to figure out my next problem..POACHERS..Me and my neighbor have talked to the MDC agent and told him about these guys that are using dogs to take my game.
The agent said you can not stop the dogs if they are chasing critters on your place because they can not read signs ,but get the name off their collar and they will do something..We think he was just "shinin"us on. We tried chasing them with pickup-no luck.with a 4 wheeler-no luck.Held a steak on the end of a stick and whistled here fido-again no luck.
We finally figured out how to get the name off the collar.

The Seniors thank the MDC for NOTHING
I have always wanted to do an article thanking the MDC for all the great stuff you have done for the older people who have supported and paid your salaries for decades.So heres the list and a great big
THANK YOU FOR NOTHING
You would think that for all the years that the older people have paid into hunting and fishing that just maybe the MDC would give them a little 2 or 3 day season for themselves.
Hell no they give it to a bunch of babies who can not read or write and haven't paid a dime in taxes because Mommy and Daddy are still wiping their little asses.
Here is a great example of of the MDC "brainwashing" the kids to their way of thinking and at the same time telling the people who have supported the MDC for decades to go screw yourself..
Lets say most people will live to the age of 70
A resident lifetime conservation permit for a 10 year old costs $550
That means for 60 years his license will cost him or her $9.15 a year..
Now if they are 39 it will cost $700
That means for 31 years it will cost them $22.50 a year.
Now if they are 59 it will cost $600
That means for 11years it will cost $54.50 a year...That means it will cost the old guy 550 percent more than the 10 year old..
Who is the "prick" that figured this one out
Once again the MDC proves what kind of mental midgets are spending your money and this type of mentality and stupidity is pervasive all through state and federal Government.....

Use Idaho laws for safety
Well- here it is the end of November and the local weekly rag is putting in pictures of the 6 and 7 year old Superhumans with their 10 point bucks.Now this is a good one.This little guy used a 243 and killed the deer in his steps at 290 yards..Ain't like no 243 I ever used,but I forgot I'm not a superhuman.I said years ago just wait and see that every year the youth kill will go up.All that season does is give the Adults 4 more days hunting..Can not blame them in a way because of the MDC super short gun season..Eleven days is pityful..Lets jam everyone to 11 days and see who gets shot..
At least once again I was able to go to the great state of Idaho where again they had ZERO hunting accidents and HUNTER ORANGE is not worn and you will see at the most someone wearing a hat of Orange.Most of the hunters in Idaho are from out of state and Idaho gets 75 percent of its revenue from them.Licenses are high though.It just proves once again the wearing of Orange has nothing to do with safety.It just a way for the MDC people to sit on their ass looking for a reason to fine someone..First the Idaho season runs from the high country hunt in Sept all the way to the end of the general rifle season in November..Its not like Missouri where you can shoot anything that is not Orange.In Idaho you had better know your game.In the last few years they have made it a little more restrictive to the point where you must now buy your tag for either Muleys or whitetail..So that being said if you hunting anywhere in Idaho you will have to LOOK Hard at what you are shooting which makes it safer,but even more you have whitetail,mule deer,elk,antelope,moose bear and of course people.Also the game dept puts signs up on all highways in places that says all vehicles most stop for check even if you are not hunting,and you had better stop..There is usually one or 2 guys from the state and a handful of volunteers so checking is quick.

stop playing favorites
Well here it is the 15th of October and the peak of the rut is just about over.I figured it would be pretty dismal on my place and it was..Can not expect much after the slaughter of at least 30 does and fawns just west of my place. The only bucks seen were spikes and a few 6 points but they are all last years fawns.
I looked at the hunting laws(I needed a laugh).I see they finally got rid of that sticker you were supposed to put in your line of sight on a shot gun...
I see they still have not figured out the difference between a youth season and a BABY season..
Then of course you have the NEW shoot them with any thing you have season---air rifles-sticks-crossbows -can't remember if there were slingshots,BUT no rifles.
Then if you have $400 bucks for a bow you are the favorite of all.You will get a season 15 times longer than Joe working stiff who can only hunt 10 days or if he can not get the time off only 2 days.
The MDC like most other states Wildlife departments always try to push this safety bullshit by saying you should wear orange on everything even your hunting blinds..That is pure CRAP..I still hunt in a state that you do not have to wear Orange and their safety record is better then most...
This is only for Idiots----Smart people already have it figured out.
Just suppose you have a hundred thousand people in a stadium and you tell these people there is a booth outside and the first people out of the stadium will get a $1000 each but there is a 4 hour time limit and the money giveaway stops...What do you think happens----------MAYHEM -even death from stampede
Now supposed you have the same 100 thousand people in the stadium but they are told the money will be given away over the next 24 hours..There may be a few dummies jamming the doors first off but the rest will be alot more orderly...
So lets see if the MDC really cares about safety.
Right now this 10 day gun season is mayhem for man and beast -quick shoot whatever moves time is short.
Or make the season 2 months long with still the same limits.Spread the people around.Less people in the woods,less accidents,more quality hunting,but remove all these special seasons and limits for kids,bowhunters etc.Gun hunters pay the same for their license.
By the way I am offering $50 bucks to anyone who can show me a live wild not penned Mule deer
in Ozark county..

Sept 1st 2013 rut has started
Well time once again has snuck up on me and the 2013 season is here..2 days ago I saw my first buck running does.It was a small spike with velvet still not quite rubbed off. Every time he got close to the doe she would turn and rear up on her hind legs a run him off for a ways but he just kept on going after her.
I have been involved with several game departments out west as an employee and volunteer and they all have one thing in common.They always lie to the public about the rut time.
I have said it in other posts but I'll say it again.I have always been asked when the rut REALLY starts.It is simple.When the bucks rub the velvet off the rut is on.When is the peak ? October when the moon is full they run all night sleep all day.
Why do the game Depts tell you the rut is in November.They are just trying to control you.There are many people that listen to them no matter what they say and never question them..
Now here is a formular that will tell you when the peak is in your area.The pregnacy of a doe is 7 months so as soon as you start seeing those fawns in late April and May just count back 7 months and you will see it puts you back to late Sept and October.If the breeding peaked in November you would not see fawns until June and July and they would not really be big enough if an early blast of winter hits. Then why is the hunting good in November ?Oldtimers like me and others I worked with call it the frustration month.All the does have been pretty much bred and now the Bucks have to take some long hikes to try and find a doe and that combined with alot of the leaves dropping off gives you more visiblity.They are frustrated and some real good fights take place.I have hunted states down south and Northeast and Northwest and I have found almost no difference in rut times.

Lets get rid of the MDC
Its now August 2013 and not one property owner has ever been contacted by the MDC about finding those people that slaughtered those deer in Ozark county.Best estimates is that over 30 does and fawns have been killed put in piles and left to rot.We know that agents Tom Leeker and Jerry Kiger know about it and have seen pictures.Its not too long till this hunting season so it seems the local people will have to deal with it the best way they can..One thing is for sure,they are asking each other how many deer are you seeing and on game cameras and the outlook is not good..We can only try to imagine how many bucks were taken out.
It seems clear to this writer the only thing the MDC is --is a bunch overgrown kids running around in boats,4 wheelers,nice pickup trucks and all other kinds of toys paid for by me and the other people of Missouri and the first thing that comes out of their mounth is they need MORE.Research shows they are one of only a few states that have income from a sales tax on everyone besides licenses.

Where the Hell are the mule deer ???
It seems that the MDC has no clue to the meaning of conservation.They are always telling people to let them know when they see a cougar or a black bear.There are no hunting seasons on them because they are so scarce. OK I go along with that,but yet we have an animal that I canot find a record of anybody seeing let alone killing. Requests to the MDC get no answers except "we don't keep those kind of records" There are way more bears and cougars than this animal.If anyone knows where they are at in Missouri please tell me.These animals are highly sought after from the Rockies westward,but unheard of in this state. Yet if you look in the hunting laws every year at the top is gives the season as
Whitetail deer and MULE DEER. If they are so dam rare why are the Idiots at the MDC trying to eliminate what few might be wandering around.
