My 22 year old doe made it another year
Thats a fact and I have her on tape all these years..She has a name Split Ear.Now guess why I call her that..She also has a great big buck fawn and that old girl is the Boss of the place..I do not care if a 10 point buck comes to eat when she shows up and lays her ears back they all run and give her what she wants..All my does had buck fawns this year but some did not make it the first month and I believe I have the culprits on camera..BEARS---Both appear to be males and one looks about 450 lbs..Bears are worse on fawn depredation than coyotes and the bears are showing up on camera more than the coyotes.I like my deer so the bears have to go one way or another. There is really nothing on my place any different than the last 25 years
I have been here but I believe because I have one of the last places with a large tract of old growth trees
may be it.Many thousands of acres around me have been wiped clean by bulldozers for a non native animal..
Cattle-and MDC complains about pigs. They are nothing compared to cattle-they eat and destroy everything...

Year of the Covid 19
To say this was one different year is a real understatement..Had to tip toe around no matter where
you went.Trying to buy even the most basic things like toilet paper became ridiculous mainly once again because of the so called news media.Could not even get seeds for our garden or the food plots for the critters..Then everybody raised their prices for non dam reason except greed..That has always bothered me that when there is a claimed shortage you should not be able to get an item but if you pay an exorbinate
price stuff magically appear..Then how about the goverment giving away all the monopoly money and people did
not want to work unless you paid some ridiculous amount..Well enough of this I could go on and on...
Well spring came and I knew my does had their fawns and I was hoping it was not like last year when they had them but NONE showed up,but what did show up to my suprise BEARS and they are bad news for fawns.I had my suspicions but no proof on my cameras..So this year again they had their fawns and normally when the fawns are a week or 2 old they run with MAMA..So May goes by nothing-same for June-same for July-now I am worried and mad because the bears are still around..Then the first week of August my wifes yells come quick
and I look out the window and the whole herd of does each has a big fawn with them and the fawns are going nuts running crazy playing with each other-what a great sight..and split ear my 22 year old doe once again had a great looking buck fawn with her.I just wonder why they all waited so long to bring their fawns up.
All the fawns look like bucks so heres hoping the deer I never see had some doe fawns

Worst hunting season for me ever
This is the first time in 50 years I could not go hunting and it just hurts for me to even acknowledge
it...The fact is old age finally caught up with me and I just had to use my head and get out of the woods..
I could shoot one out the window anytime I feel like it but that is not me..The one doe my wife feeds just had her at least 20th birthday and she was mature when the wife started feeding her..Friends will always look at her and say how do you know its the same one and I reply simple--look at her right ear its split right down the middle and guess what we call her---YUP "Splitear" and show them pictures from years ago..
I have always taken pride in the fact I hunted and found the game by myself and I did not kill more than I can use..I hunted 7 different states on public land and went 50 years getting my animal-even put a few in t he record books...Unlike some of these guys I read about in hunting magazines who go out with 5 guys following them
and being shown what to shoot.I maintain if I turned one of these guys loose on my place he would mostly get lost and starve to death..They are not hunters just shooters.Craig Boddington -Buck Mcneely and Zumbo come to mind. They make a bad name for the once a year hunters...

September 4 2020 and all the bucks have rubbed
Well here it is another year and Deer hunting has begun in some states..too early as far as I am concerned..
When you have game and fish Departments that are interested in nothing but MONEY this is one of the things
Then a few years ago they started the kiddie hunt season and in many states they have a better season than your longtime hunters have and its resulted in many just quit hunting..Now in Missouri they have cut the rifle season down to 9 days which means a guy who can only get Sundays off has only one day to hunt but the kiddies now have 6 days of their own and all the regular season too plus they only pay a couple of bucks for a license..which now has created Daddy poachers. They put pictures of 6 year olds with rifles they can not possibly handle such as 6 year old Suzie 47 pounds with a 10 lb 308 and scope..Thats like a 200 lb man packing a 50 pound rifle...not this guy..Missouri says the youth must be able to hold aim and shoot by themselves. Now I just watched show where they showed this kid in a blind sitting in chair and Dad takes the rifle puts it on tripod and window tells the kid this is where you put ammo..then he tells kid how to look in scope-kid says he can not see anything--which I believe.A scope is usually fit to the eye using it...Then he tells the kid I will tell you when to shoot and where to put your finger..Kid was holding up wrong finger. Then camera shows nice buck and pans back to kid who did not have his hand on rifle. Then camera goes back on deer theres a pop and camera goes back and kids hand is not rifle and Dad is congradulating him nice shot and the kid is just giving him a stupid look...Theres no future hunter here.I,m sorry but I do not think there is a 6 year old kid anywhere that if you put several rifles and a pile of ammo on a table they could figure it out..If you can not read or write or understand why you are killing this animal its just wrong..

2020 and same story-no new fawns
I have 4 does who live close to the house and they are all related. One that is called split ear has been here for 16 years and she was mature when she started coming.Must be in her 20s..Yes deer will get that old if left alone and stay healthy..They were all pregnate and all had there fawns about 2nd week of May.Pretty simple to figure out.You watch thier bellies get big all winter then they disappear for a few days and them they start showing up again for their goodies and they are skinny..Its usually several weeks before the fawns start coming with them but again we wait and wait and no fawns show up.I have several cameras out to see what might be killing them..I have never found the remains of any deer so I rule out sickness and I only have a few of coyote and one bobcat..but this last year I have had a good size bear showing up..Camera showed him once on the deck..I have no Idea why he is here .There is no food of any kind around and he has not bothered the garden so far.I sure hope he is not killing them I would hate to kill him-but I might build a live trap..

Lets get rid of MDC they violate every part of the constitution
I will not go into this too deep because it would take hours to list but the MDC just like all other states is a government in itself using rules over and above our constitution..Lets start with something simple.Think you have the right of liberty and happiness in your own home and property..WRONG
You had better read the Statues of Missouri 252 and if that does not scare the hell out of you just sign the deed to your property..Theres stuff like coming on your property to search without a warrant or cause..How about those deer heads MDC says they own them..Then of course you are told if its hunting season you must wear Orange even though you are the only person on the property..Whats the sense in covering your camo if you do hunt. You know if you are safe..You are not the bad guy..
The fact is wearing Orange has not made a difference nowhere in hunting accidents. The MDC and all states get there info from themselves. They manufacture it for their own good..The safest state to hunt as always is IDAHO and they have no Orange rules....One year the MDC listed 8 HUNTING accidents. They were ALL guys loading guns in their house or vehicles NOT HUNTING
Are you even a little bit tired of those people using YOU to make their paychecks and not lifting a finger to help..
In Missouri the property owner has always had the right to get rid of problem critters but a few days ago they had some article wanting PUBLIC input on letting property owners use night vision to protect their property..If you think I will put up with that BS I still have that bridge to England for sale...
Once again another Government agency has screwed up and I am paying for it..The Corps of engineers has let the lakes go over the top which means the water is in places it has not been for years and has chased all the raccoons --possums etc up to me!!!!You can only imagine the destruction they do to a garden and fruit trees and fences mean nothing...I will say one thing ..Whoever invented that dog proof trap--Thank-thank-thank you..I can not think of another critter as destructive as a raccoon
and the dam things are so cute when they are babies...
Now here is something that bothers--NO PISSES OFF a lot of property owners..The MDC uses big cities to pass laws they want. One big city can have more people vote than every county around it and they do not own 1 dam acre of ground but the bleeding hearts will vote something in that effects me and my property NOT THEM..ITS long past due that property owners should be the only one that have a say on what they own and pay taxes on...

Its 2020 I made another year and I am glad I hunt in Missouri
So far no Snow or really bad weather except for all the flooding I get from the corps backing the lake up...Its pretty sad when a state game and fish Department make regulations so bad and confusing national magazines will not put any information about it..The reason being they are so fractured and many the average person does not know what is open or closed.Just for example they have close to 100 different areas open at different times and antler rules.Insane!!! There is no statewide deer hunting. Some parts open some not..You have to buy a license for whatever weapon you use and you can only hunt with that...Non resident license are outrageous..Just an idea of what you are dealing with. These hunting books with the regulations are 11 1/2 in high books..Hunting 135 pages--
Fishing 133 pages Turkey 10 pages--waterfowl 50 pages...You need a license for deer--elk--fishing plus one for certain species like salmon--bottom fish--clams..and a lot more They will sell you a license for things that have closed season for years--like razor clams...and salmon fishing which has only a few areas and very few days you can fish..I will list some of the license cost in another post..
I guess by now you would like to know the state. ITS Washington state..
My long time friends and relatives whom all of them fished and hunted including the gals with me for all thru the 70s,80, and into the 90,s when things started going downhill ---not one of them does any fishing or hunting anymore..When we get together all we talk about is what the state has done to destroy the outdoors .. Even the resident licenses are way out of line ..
Now here is another kicker for deer hunting west of the Cascade range ..Almost 100 percent of the land is owned by huge timber companies and they have their licenses and rules where to hunt..Thats about another 50 to 300 dollars depending which one you go on ..Unless you live in a cave you know Washington is as big as Missouri with many types of terrain to hunt..Last years deer harvest(kill)
was a measly 28,000 like the year before. What does that tell you??
