I think of all the months in the year September has the biggest change of all..The walnut trees start losing their leaves. The gardens are just about worn out..My Grey foxes have their gorgeous winter coats and their puppies are so big I have a hard time telling them apart from their parents and I can hardly keep up with the feed..This years fawns have lost their spots with the exception of a very old doe who had 4 fawns the first week of August (unbelievable).I hope they get big enough before the cold weather comes..and my favorite time-the bucks have all rubbed their antlers clean and the rut is on.Now like every year my local bucks will disappear and when it comes time for me to find one I will probably shoot one I have never seen before. After the slaughter 2 and 3 years ago it will take awhile to get things back if ever..The game cameras have only shown 2 nice bucks but it was a night time picture.Never seen them in the daylight..The interesting part is I have relatives and friends in New York-Idaho and Washington and the bucks there have also rubbed.Kind of destroys the bullshit I have read about the bucks down south like here shed later..I also have a friend in Alaska but she will not set foot in the woods so I have asked her to contact someone to see if they rubbed there too.
Now about 10 years ago I had friend in Texas and he said when I called the deer had also rubbed so what can I say.
Now do not tell anyone especially the MDC that again the peak of the rut will be the week of the full moon in October..
Now I know alot of guys and a few gals are putting on new scopes or sighting in the old one so I will tell you next time how to sight your scope in 2 shots to hit the target guaranteed..
